Cheers Flag Auction

We’re auctioning off the Cheers flag that proudly flew in front of our building in the year 2024 and 2025 — a cherished piece of memorabilia that holds plenty of stories and spirit. This is your chance to take home a meaningful symbol while giving back: net proceeds will benefit Cheers for Children, supporting children in need throughout our community. Starting bid is $1,500. Please comment your bid below. Bids not accompanied by an email address will be disregarded. Bidding closes on 5/26/2026 at 11:59pm eastern time. Winner will be notified by 5/27/2026 by email and be given a link to donate the bid amount by credit card. Failure to respond to notification will result in forfeit to the next highest bidder. Actual flag may differ from one shown. Flag does show natural signs of wear and tear around edges due to having been outdoors and experiencing New England weather conditions.

Boston in 2024 and 2025 was shaped by championship celebrations, major public events, and headline-making moments that kept the city in the national spotlight. In June 2024, the Boston Celtics captured their record-breaking 18th NBA Championship, sparking massive celebrations across the city and bringing duck boats back to downtown for one of Boston’s largest championship parades in years. Hundreds of thousands of fans packed the streets from TD Garden to Back Bay as the city celebrated Banner 18.

Boston sports and entertainment culture continued making headlines into 2025, while the city also reflected on the passing of beloved actor George Wendt, best known for playing Norm Peterson on the iconic Boston-set sitcom Cheers. Fans gathered at the historic Cheers location on Beacon Hill and across social media to celebrate the actor whose character became closely tied to Boston’s bar culture and identity for generations of viewers.

The city also continued preparing for major international events tied to FIFA World Cup activities and America’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebrations, with infrastructure, transportation, and security planning becoming major topics of discussion across Greater Boston. The Seaport and waterfront neighborhoods remained packed with conventions, concerts, tourism, and outdoor events, while debates around MBTA reliability, housing affordability, and downtown redevelopment reflected the challenges of a rapidly evolving city.

Through championship parades, cultural milestones, major sporting events, and preparations for global tourism, Boston in 2024 and 2025 balanced celebration, nostalgia, and growth in a city constantly redefining itself.
